Listen to ACM ByteCast!

In this episode of ACM ByteCast, our special guest host Scott Hanselman (of The Hanselminutes Podcast) welcomes ACM Fellow Juan Gilbert, the Andrew Banks Family Preeminence Endowed Professor and Chair of the Computer & Information Science & Engineering Department at the University of Florida where he leads the Computing for Social Good Lab. The lab’s innovations include open-source voting technology to help make elections more secure, accessible, and usable; making voting technologies more transparent; increasing fairness and reducing bias in ML algorithms used in admissions and hiring decisions; and reducing conflicts during traffic stops. Gilbert’s many honors and recognitions include the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring, the CRA A. Nico Habermann Award, and the National Medal of Technology and Innovation (NMTI).

The AI Playbook: Mastering the Rare Art of Machine Learning Deployment

This book presents the gold-standard, six-step practice for ushering machine learning projects from conception to deployment. He illustrates the practice with stories of success and of failure, including revealing case studies from UPS, FICO, and prominent dot-coms. This disciplined approach serves both sides: It empowers business professionals, and it establishes a sorely needed strategic framework for data professionals.

Migrate VMware Virtual Machines v8

In this Challenge Lab, you need to migrate virtual machines. First, you will create a VMkernel port that is enabled for vSphere vMotion; on each host, and then you will perform a cold migration of a virtual machine. Next, you will perform a vMotion migration, and then you will perform a storage vMotion migration. Finally, you will perform a shared-nothing vMotion migration, and then you will perform a cross vCenter Server® export migration.

Discover ACM Selects - Shortlists of Learning Resources Curated by Experts

ACM Selects are themed shortlists curated by subject matter experts for both serious and emerging computing professionals, with the goal of providing new ways to discover relevant resources. Please visit our archive of Selects on a variety of subjects which is available here.

ACM Case Studies

Written by leading domain experts for software engineers, ACM Case Studies provide an in-depth look at how software teams overcome specific challenges by implementing new technologies, adopting new practices, or a combination of both. Often through first-hand accounts, these pieces explore what the challenges were, the tools and techniques that were used to combat them, and the solution that was achieved.

ACM Distinguished Speakers Program

The Distinguished Speakers Program (DSP) is one of ACM's most valued outreach programs, providing universities, corporations, event and conference planners, and local ACM chapters with direct access to top technology leaders and innovators from nearly every sector of the computing industry. ACM will cover the cost of transportation for the speaker to travel to your event.
