Falcons peck 'Dogs, 3-0

USAF Academy, Colo. – The Fresno State volleyball team fell to the Air Force Falcons in straight sets on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Bulldogs now hold a 10-6 record in Mountain West play this season with two regular season matches remaining.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs and Falcons played a well-balanced first set as they exchanged a one-point lead throughout, until the Falcons pulled ahead in the back half of the set.  After being tied 14-14, the Falcons carried as much as a four-point lead before defeating the Bulldogs 25-22.
 
The second set played out in a very similar fashion, with the Bulldogs staying neck and neck with the Falcons through a 22-22 tie game. Air Force took three straight kills to best the 'Dogs 25-22 in the second set.
 
Air Force kept a consistent lead in the third and final set, despite the kill count being knotted at 14 between the Bulldogs and Falcons. Fresno State scored five six straight with Cowie at the service line to tie the set at 20-20, but the Falcons responded with a mirroring run to defeat Fresno State 25-20 and 3-0 overall.
 
NOTES
  • Addison Haluska was the only bulldog with double digit kills tonight with 13.
  • Brooke Cowie accounted for 31 of the Bulldogs' 35 assists.
  • With only two matches left in the regular season, the Bulldogs will wrap up the year with a conference record over .500.

The Bulldogs will wrap up the regular season with a pair of matches at home this week. Fresno State will face Utah State on Thursday at 6 p.m. PT and will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday against Boise State in the Save Mart Center, time TBA.
