Center for Library Science – Fall Internship 2024 U.S. Government Accountability Office

Who

The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) is an independent, nonpartisan agency that works for Congress. We accomplish our mission by providing objective and reliable information and analysis to the Congress, to federal agencies, and to the public, and recommending improvements, when appropriate, on a wide variety of issues to make government work better.

The Center for Library Science (CLS), part of Applied Research and Methods at GAO, is seeking current
students in Masters of Library and Information Science programs to apply for a fall internship.

What

Full-time or part-time paid internship, salary $26.80 – $32.78 per hour. Other perks include telework, earned annual and sick leave.
Types of work include specialized research in support of GAO audit work, collection development, and work with library systems.

Where

If you are hired, you will be assigned to the location listed in the vacancy announcement of Washington, DC, and that location will be your assigned Official Duty Station (ODS). You will be required to report in person to GAO Headquarters in Washington, DC for your first day of the new hire orientation to complete necessary paperwork, be sworn in, and to complete other administrative functions. After the
orientation, the internship can be completed virtually or onsite in HQ.

When

Fall 2024 (Anticipated start date in August 2024 for 400 to 640 hours total). Applications due 07/05/2024.
Part time student interns are required to work 24-32 hours per week. Students who will graduate in December 2024 may be required to work full time in order to meet the required 400 hours.
