We know the previous job site was a beloved part of our community for many years, from our first iteration of Stack Overflow Jobs, developers around the world turned to Stack Overflow to find their next opportunity. We believe we’ve found a sustainable solution that best serves developer needs while bringing a best-in-class experience. We’re excited to partner with Indeed, a leading global matching and hiring platform to understand the feasibility and functionality of Stack Overflow Jobs once again. It will serve developers at every stage of their career, from seasoned professionals to those just getting started, and support searches for a variety of technology roles from Full-Stack Developers to Site Reliability Engineers and more. We will also continue to partner on resources and content to help developers and technologists in their job search and ongoing career development.

Part of our mission at Stack Overflow is empowering the world to develop technology. One aspect of that is enabling technologists and developers to find new opportunities to build for the future. We found in our latest Stack Overflow Knows Job Report that almost 80% of developers are at least considering new opportunities, if not actively looking; and want to help technical job seekers find their next great opportunity via a curated, tech focused job site.

Our primary goal with Stack Overflow Jobs is to simply learn. Learn how and how often developers and technologists use Stack Overflow Jobs, learn what is most important to developers in their job search, learn what features are most valuable to provide a seamless experience, and learn how we can improve by gathering feedback from you.

The job site is currently available in the U.S. and may eventually expand to more markets.

Find the Stack Overflow Jobs, powered by Indeed site through the “Jobs” link on the left side of Stack Overflow and technical Stack Exchange sites if you are a user in the U.S.

Why do this?

  • We wanted to create a job site that you get to test, try, and provide feedback on while we learn from our community.
  • We found in our Stack Overflow Knows Job Report in October of 2023, that one of the top ways developers find out about companies they may want to work for before they start searching for a new job are on job boards (53%).
  • Easily apply to roles that are right for you. With thousands of new opportunities at your fingertips, our job site can help you discover companies that align with your knowledge, values, and skills.

Feature set

  • Stack Overflow Jobs is free and easy to use and can be accessed from Stack Overflow and technical Stack Exchange sites.
  • Only open developer and technologist roles are pulled in from Indeed to the job site (hence “powered by Indeed”). You’ll find full-stack, front-end, and back-end developers, site reliability engineers, data scientists, and even other technical roles like product managers, scrum leaders, QA testers, and more.
  • Stack Overflow and Indeed have clearly defined criteria based on job title to ensure jobs posted on Stack Overflow Jobs are relevant to a technical audience.
  • Users can search jobs by job title, keywords or company and by city.
  • You’ll find salary transparency in most job descriptions.

About Labs

Since 2008 Stack Overflow has pioneered open source conversations in the technology community, helping us become the most visited, most trusted destination for developers in the world. In 2017, we unleashed the same productivity gains inside companies with Stack Overflow for Teams.

Knowledge sharing between peers and experts is fundamental to software development ‒ you can see it happening in Slack, in meetings, or quick hangs. Advances in technology, like GenAI, puts everyone in learning mode and knowledge sharing is at the core of that experience.

Stack Overflow for Teams sits at the very intersection of curiosity and innovation, a place to ask & answer your peers’ questions, learn from other experts within the company, and keep up with ‒ or be the driver of ‒ all new developments.

Our guiding principles

Find new ways to give technologists more time to create amazing things.
Accuracy is fundamental. That comes from attributed, peer-reviewed sources that provide transparency.
The coding field should be accessible to all, including beginners to advanced users.
Humans should always be included in the application of any new technology.

With these in mind, starting over the next few months, we will be sharing our ideas, opinions, designs, research and product ideas which combine emerging technologies with our platforms and services.
