Processing of log data (access data): When using the website, the access to the pages, whether the access was successful, the point in time of same, the data volumes transferred and the IP address of the accessing computer are collected for the recognition of errors. The storage of the IP address occurs in an abbreviated form, so that identification is either impossible or only possible with outlays and efforts that are disproportionate to the knowledge gained about the accessing connection. The processing only occurs internally and on the basis of Art. 6 Para. 1 f) EU-GDPR, whereby the legitimate interest lies here in the recognition of errors. The stored log data are erased automatically after 7 calendar days.
A user account is required when using the non-public areas of the website, such as e.g. the study applicant and student management areas. In order to create an account, the following personal data are required and mandatory: Title, surname, first name, email address and a self-selected password.
Without the complete provision of the above-mentioned data, a user account cannot be allocated and in turn the non-public areas of the website cannot be used. The processing occurs on the basis of Art. 6 Para. 1 e) EU-GDPR for the purpose of restricting access to non-public, protected parts of the IPU Berlin website to registered users. The account data are not transferred to any third parties. Erasure occurs following the submission of an explicit deletion request by the user or when the account has not been used for more than 2 years.
When using the contact form, the name, first name, country/state (if detailed), telephone number (if detailed) and the email address are processed. The processing occurs on the basis of Art. 6 Para. 1 e) EU-GDPR for the purpose of responding to the question posed in the contact form. Any forwarding of the data to a third party does not occur. Our sites use Google Analytics Remarketing features in conjunction with the cross-device features of Google AdWords and Google DoubleClick. The provider is Google Inc, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
This feature allows Google Analytics Remarketing to link advertising target groups with the cross-device capabilities of Google AdWords and Google DoubleClick. In this way, interest-related, personalized advertising messages that have been adapted to you depending on your previous usage and surfing behavior on one device (e.g. mobile phone) can also be displayed on another of your devices (e.g. tablet or PC).

Google AdWords and conversion measurement
On the basis of our legitimate interests (i.e. interest in the analysis, optimisation and economic operation of our online offer in the sense of Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f. GDPR), we make use of the services of Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA, ("Google").
Google is certified under the Privacy Shield Agreement and thus offers a guarantee of compliance with European data protection law (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Active).
We use the Google "AdWords" online marketing process to place ads on the Google advertising network (e.g., in search results, videos, websites, etc.) so that they are displayed to users who have a suspected interest in the ads. This allows us to display ads for and within our online offerings in a more targeted manner in order to present users only with ads that potentially match their interests. If, for example, a user is shown ads for products in which he or she is interested in other online offers, this is referred to as "remarketing". For these purposes, when our and other websites on which the Google Advertising Network is active are called up, a Google code is executed directly by Google and so-called (re)marketing tags (invisible graphics or code, also referred to as "web beacons") are integrated into the website. With their help, an individual cookie, i.e. a small file, is stored on the user's device (comparable technologies can also be used instead of cookies). This file records which websites the user visits, what content he is interested in and what offers the user has clicked, as well as technical information on the browser and operating system, referring websites, visit times and other information on the use of the online service.
Furthermore, we receive an individual "conversion cookie". The information obtained with the help of the cookie is used by Google to compile conversion statistics for us. However, we only know the anonymous total number of users who clicked on our ad and were redirected to a page with a conversion tracking tag. However, we do not receive any personally identifiable information.
User information is processed pseudonymously within the Google Advertising Network. This means, for example, that Google does not store and process the user's name or e-mail address, but processes the relevant data cookie-related within pseudonymous user profiles. This means that, from Google's point of view, the ads are not administered and displayed for a specifically identified person, but for the cookie holder, regardless of who this cookie holder is. This does not apply if a user has expressly permitted Google to process the data without this pseudonymisation. The information collected about users is transmitted to Google and stored on Google's servers in the United States.

Facebook Pixel
Our website uses the visitor action pixel of Facebook, Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA ("Facebook") to measure conversion.
This allows us to track the behavior of site visitors after they are redirected to the provider's Web site by clicking on a Facebook ad. This allows the effectiveness of Facebook advertisements to be evaluated for statistical and market research purposes and to optimize future advertising efforts.
The data collected is anonymous to us as the operator of this website and we cannot draw any conclusions about the identity of the users. However, the data is stored and processed by Facebook so that a connection to the respective user profile is possible and Facebook can use the data for its own advertising purposes in accordance with the Facebook data usage guidelines.
