Excited to share this account article on the precise chemical modification of histidine-containing bioactive peptide sequences, published in the SYNLETT Journal. This work, led by Dr. Sourav Chatterjee and co-workers, is part of the special issue 'Chemical Tools for Peptide Modifications' edited by Prof. Monika Raj. This account highlights innovative strategies and chemical tools for achieving site-selective histidine modifications within peptides and proteins. It showcases the unique reactivity of the histidine imidazole ring and the opportunities it presents for diverse covalent transformations. Thrilled to announce the publication of the first article in our special issue honoring the 75th birthday of Prof. B. C. Ranu. This paper, titled "Metal-Free Synthesis of C-3-Alkoxycarbonylated 2H-Indazoles Using Alkyl Carbazates," (https://lnkd.in/gBeeAcmV) authored by a talented team led by Dr. Alakananda Hajra, this work describes a novel, environmentally friendly approach to the direct C-3 functionalization of indazoles - an important class of heterocycles with broad pharmaceutical applications. Using a simple, metal-free protocol, the researchers were able to access a diverse array of C-3 carboxylic ester-derived indazoles in good to excellent yields. Excited to share the second article in a special issue honoring the exceptional career and contributions of Prof. Brindaban C. Ranu on the occasion of his 75th birthday. In this work, the research team led by Prof. Yujiro Hayashi reports a highly enantioselective synthesis of substituted dihydropyrans via an organocatalyst-mediated domino reaction. The method demonstrates the power of asymmetric organocatalysis in the efficient construction of valuable heterocyclic scaffolds.
