Polyphenols
A large class of organic compounds having more than one PHENOL group.
Year introduced: 2012 (2010)
Pradimicins and Benanomicins
Polycyclic aromatic polyketides with pentacyclic angular dihydrobenzo(a)naphthacenequinone skeletons. Pradimicin- and related benanomicin-type polyphenols are produced by Actinobacteria, e.g., ACTINOMADURA, using type II polyketide synthase involving condensation of one acetyl-CoA and nine malonyl-CoA. Pradimicins and benanomicins have an amino acid (e.g., D-ALANINE) and often a 5-O-sugar and bind to terminal D-mannosides of the cell wall of various fungi, e.g., CANDIDA. In addition to antifungal activity many pradimicins and benanomicins have anti-HIV activities.
Year introduced: 2024
Grape Seed Extract
Exudate from seeds of the grape plant Vitis vinifera, composed of oils and secondary plant metabolites (BIOFLAVONOIDS and polyphenols) credited with important medicinal properties.
Year introduced: 2010 (2001)
Aspalathus
A plant genus of the family FABACEAE. It is the source of an herbal tea that is commonly consumed in South Africa. Members contain aspalathin and other polyphenols (PHENOLS).
Year introduced: 2003
oligonol [Supplementary Concept]
a product emanating from the oligomerization of polyphenols, typically proanthocyanidin from a variety of fruits (grapes, apples, persimmons, etc.) and contains catechin-type monomers and proanthocyanidin oligomers
Date introduced: October 23, 2006
thearubigin [Supplementary Concept]
from black tea leaves; a catechin oxidized product; a mixture of heterogenous polyphenols
Date introduced: May 10, 1994
Vaccinium myrtillus extract [Supplementary Concept]
extract from Vaccinium myrtillus containing 36% anthocyanosides (including 3-O-arabinosides, 3-O-glucosides, and 3-O-galactosides), as well as sugars, aliphatic acids, polyphenols, flavan-3-ols, and flavonol glycosides
Date introduced: April 4, 1992
UP360 [Supplementary Concept]
A standardized aloe-based composition of polysaccharides from Aloe barbadense and Poria cocos and polyphenols from Rosemary officinalis
Date introduced: December 14, 2023
Bio-Oil [Supplementary Concept]
used to treat stretch marks; consists of polyphenols, such as Calendula officinalis extract, Lavandula angustifolia oil, Rosmarinus officinalis leaf oil, and Anthemis nobilis flower oil
Date introduced: January 8, 2017
