Model of DOR incompetence in peripheral sensory neurons. Under naive conditions, AKAP anchors PKA at the plasma membrane and supports membrane targeting of GRK2 via direct phosphorylation at Ser-685. Constitutive phosphorylation by PKA drives GRK2 to associate with DOR and maintain chronic DOR incompetence.
