Histogram of average GC contents from 102 publicly available SAGE libraries. Averages were calculated as described in Materials and Methods. The circle and triangle represent the two peaks of this bimodal distribution that correlate well with the averages of SAGE libraries shown in this paper to be unbiased and biased, respectively. Of the tested SAGE libraries, 82% have an average GC content <52%.
